The Marigny Opera Ballet's 2016/2017 Season will end with a varied program including a premiere by choreographer Nikki Hefko: "Poems of the Soul." Audience favorites from the Company's inaugural season will also be on offer: Diogo de Lima's "Salterelle," with music by Scott R. King; Maya Taylor's "Under a Glass Bell," with an original score by concert pianist Dustin Gledhill; and "Autumn" from The Four Seasons, by Donna Crump with music by Antonio Vivaldi. The musicians performing are pianist Dustin Gledhill, winner of the 2006 New Orleans International Piano Competition, clarinetist Rex Gregory, and violinist Tarrah Reynolds.

"Poems of the Soul" will be the second new work created for the Company by Nikki Hefko, formerly with the Dance Theatre of Harlem. The music for the work is the jazz-infused Sonata for Clarinet and Piano by Alec Wilder, composed in 1963. The new costumes have been designed by Anamarys Perez, and the lighting will be designed by Shawn Ramagos.

The Company's final program is made possible in part by generous assistance by the SHS Foundation, the Arts Council of New Orleans, The City of New Orleans, The Louisiana Office of Cultural Development, The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Foundation, Harrah's New Orleans, and the Friends of the Marigny Opera House.
