Join visiting artist, Alan Perez, for a series of Contemporary workshops on Tuesday mornings! These athletic, high-energy classes will focus on alignment of the body in such a way that weight is supported through the center of the bones and thereby re-patterning the flow of energy so that movement is started by the muscles that are closest to the body’s center. Students will use the power of gravity and the momentum it creates to move through movement with ease and less muscle tension. These classes wil also dive into improvisation as a way to generate new ways of moving, composing and stimulating creativity. Alan was born in Lancaster, California and raised in Tijuana, Mexico. He first studied dance at Extensions Performing Art Center with a full scholarship and Alonzo Kings LINES Ballet. He recently received his Bachelor's in Fine Arts (BFA) from the California Institute of the Arts. Alan has performed for the Santa Clarita Ballet, and choreographers Andres Tyson, Meryl Murman, and YuanYuan. He is currently in New Orleans with FLOCK dance performing in a new dance film, Ways of Forgetting.
