“Appetite for Art” date set for October 20

On October 20th, Hope Stone New Orleans will present “Appetite for Art”, an evening of delicious fun to raise funds to support their vision to provide “Arts for All”. Proceeds from this event provide scholarships to New Orleans youth to attend dance, music, theater, and visual art class throughout the school year. Over 60% of Hope Stone students currently receive full or partial scholarships to attend year-round programing. This program targets youth who would otherwise not have access to after-school and summer arts educational programing. The event kicks off at Rebellion Bar and Urban Restaurant (748 Camp Street) with a happy-hour party that is open to the public (no event ticket necessary for happy hour).

The festivities (purchased ticket necessary) begin at 6 p.m. with a taste of our kids’ program by way of a special performance from our Hope Stone New Orleans Ensemble. The rest of the evening promises a feast of musical, visual, culinary and performance arts to light up any Tuesday. “Appetite for Art” will present two musical performances by members of our teaching staff: Susan Miller Boldissar, and Mike Dillion, a dance performance by Donna Crump’s Company Good Dance Since 1984, and surprise vignettes from local theater companies and Tulane students. Entertainment and dinner will last until 9 p.m. with all the fun you can stomach!

The menu will feature a four-course culinary experience starting with passed hors d’oeuvres from St. James Cheese and Jacque Imos’ famous shrimp and alligator cheese cake with specialty cocktails by Atchafalaya. The next course is a delectable crab gazpacho from The Franklin, and the featured entrée is a cozy chicken curry by Rebellion Bar and Urban Kitchen. Atchafalaya will shake up your palate with a bleu cheese flan for dessert. The whole spread will be accompanied by wine and champagne, as well as coffee from Brew Lait.
