Seeking: New Orleans Dance Network Site Director Assistant

Organization Overview: Formed in January 2015, the New Orleans Dance Network developed organically out of the efforts of multiple volunteers and nonprofit organizations to connect the local dance community and disseminate information about performances and training resources.Independently published websites and newsletters, including those produced by LA Pointe, Dancing Grounds, and Dance in NOLA, merged under the NODN umbrella. Local dancers, dance-makers, instructors, and community organizers began regular meetings to discuss community needs and determine what programs and resources might best meet those needs. The dance community in New Orleans has a long, diverse, and storied history, and many individuals and organizations have led efforts to organize the community over time. Through in-person gatherings and online resource-sharing, NODN serves as a hub to bring our advocacy efforts into the 21st century.

Position Overview: The NODN is seeking an individual who has a love of dance, an entrepreneurial spirit, and an interest to learning social media and business skills. The Site Director Assistant will work along side the Site Director in the running the New Orleans Dance Network site and its social media outlets. The Site Director Assistant will help with the planning of the annual New Orleans Dance Network event July Jubilee along with other NODN sponsored event.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • ​Assist in the organizing of city class calendars

  • Imputing information on the NODN website & Social Media Sites

  • Updating Social Media Outlets

  • Creating Social Media Posts and News Letters

  • Develop and Maintain branding

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or 2-3 years of experience in grass roots organizational development

  • Own personal laptop or computer

  • Self-starter with strong initiative, drive, sense of urgency & ability to work with a high degree of autonomy.

  • Excellent relationship management & networking skills.

  • Proven & effective team and project management skills.

  • A deep commitment to the NODN mission.

  • Strong leadership skills & presence.

  • Excellent managerial & organizational skills with attentiveness to details & results.

  • Excellent oral & written communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively work with people of diverse backgrounds & experiences.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to manage website & perform maintenance.

  • Excellent Social media knowledge & management.

  • Must have flexible schedule & be available as needed.
