Contemporary Horton Workshop with Courtney Ross

Join Dancing Grounds and visiting artist Courtney Ross (NYC) for this special workshop in Contemporary Horton technique! Thursday, Sept. 22 @ 7:30-8:45p $12 Drop-in, FREE for DG members This class will explore the fundamentals of the Horton technique, such as flat backs, lateral stretches, leg swings, deep lunges, and T positions. These essentials will then be used as the foundation for a contemporary combination exploring musicality and textures of dance. About Courtney: Courtney Paige, New Orleans native, is a professional dancer and teaching artist. She began her formal dance training with the NORD/NOBA Center for Dance. In middle school, she attended New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) and graduated from Lusher Charter School with a Certificate of Artistry in Dance. Courtney moved to NYC to attend the Ailey/Fordham BFA Program. While there, she studied and performed with many choreographers such as Hope Boykin, Dwight Rhoden, and Darrell Grand-Moultrie, to name a few. Upon graduating with honors in Dance, she joined the Ailey II Company. She is now working with Ron K. Brown’s Evidence: A Dance Company, based in Brooklyn, NY. Most recently, she appeared along Beyoncé in the 2016 VMA’s. She is so elated to return home and share what she has learned on the#AdventuresofCourtneyPaige.
