Read more about the classes and guest teachers below! Movement Improvisation with Troy - When gut, heart, and brain are trusted, a dialogue forms between conscious and intuitive physicality. The tension between abstraction and narrative - form and content - adds context to this dialogue. Class physically and mentally prepares dancers and/or actors to contribute to this conversation whether they produce their own work or interpret the work of others. Warm-up begins with meditative form and graduates to rigorous alignment. Blood pumping continues with improvisation techniques and games; both known and unknown. Class finishes with phrase work and related improvisations. About Troy: Troy teaches open class at Gina Gibney Dance in NYC and has taught master classes at Rutgers University, The Performing Arts Project, NYU, Skidmore College, Barnard University, New Jersey Dance Theater Ensemble, and for Body Stories. Contemporary Movement/Improvisation with Navarra - In the spirit of curiosity and exploration, this class will delve into a range of physicality, musicality, and nuance through movement research and improvisation. With an emphasis on listening to both the individual body and the collective body we will tap into the place where our technique meets our passion and develop from there.
