Free Adult/Teen Community Ballet Master Class for ages 14+ with The Juilliard School’s Taryn Kascho


The NORDC/NOBA Center for Dance will be offering a Free Master Class with Juilliard School's Taryn Kaschock Russell

About:

Directed Hubbard Street 2, 2008-spring 2013. Prior to that, was rehearsal director for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago (H.S.D.C.) during the 2007 season. She had a 12-year performing career with both Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and the Joffrey Ballet. While traveling extensively with both companies, performed works by George Balanchine, John Cranko, Agnes de Mille, Martha Graham, Lar Lubovitch, Jiří Kylián, Nacho Duato, Ohad Naharin, and William Forsythe. While Director of HS2, she realized her passion for teaching and mentoring young and emerging artists. During her tenure, was responsible for programming and staffing the H.S.D.C. summer intensives as well as curating the company's National Choreographic Competition each season. Has guest taught the Aspen Santa-Fe Ballet, Lar Lubovitch Dance Company, Trey McIntyre Project, and Ballet Met. Has been commissioned to choreograph on Hubbard Street Dance Chicago as part of its Danc(e)volve Series at the Museum of Contemporary Art, for the Columbus Dance Theater on their new choreographers series and for seniors at the Ailey/Fordham B.F.A. and SUNY Purchase Dance Programs. In the spring 2013, relocated to New York City with her family. Since then, has staged work on the Complexions Contemporary Ballet, choreographed for the Ailey/Fordham BFA program, become a regular company teacher for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and has guest taught and coached repertoire for both Ballet Hispanico and the Joffrey Concert Group.
