Seeking: Assistant Professor, Dance


ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, DANCE: Tulane University Department of Theatre and Dance invites applications for a tenure-track position beginning Fall 2016. An MFA or PhD is required along with a minimum of three to five years university teaching experience or equivalent professional experience. Strong candidates will be scholar/artists with a track record of effective teaching and research, ongoing work in the dance field, a demonstrated expertise in dance technique, and recent performance or choreographic credits. Additional expertise in a related area is desirable: e.g. choreography and media/dance technology, dance studies, academic arts/dance administration, other. Applicant must be committed to exploring innovative teaching techniques, the interface of the liberal arts and dance, and collaborative team-teaching of courses. Responsibilities include teaching 2 courses per semester in an undergraduate dance program; choreographing for or mentoring of undergraduate students for formal or informal concerts each semester; teaching courses for Interdisciplinary Dance Performance (IDP) MFA program; student advising for both undergraduate and graduate students, and active administrative service to the department and the university.
