FREE for DG members $12 for non-members Maleek's class delves into the dancer of today. Being able to be versatile in everything from structured formatted movement, while investigating the individual's movement quality. Maleek's movement and combinations range from contract improv to Hip Hop and Contemporary fusion, allowing you to tell a vivid story with your body. About Maleek: Maleek Washington was born in the Bronx, New York, and at seven years old was introduced to dance at Broadway Dance Center and the Harlem School of the Arts. After attending Laguradia HighSchool for Performing Arts, Maleek continued his education at The Boston Conservatory while dancing for CommonWeallth Ballet. After college Maleek joined CityDance Ensemble. A company that performed works by Paul Taylor, Kate Weare, and Alex Noreal to over 8 countries. During his time with Citydance Maleek attended SpringBoard Danse in Montreal where he was able to join Jose Novas's Company Flak for a 2 seasons of European tours. Maleek ended his Fourth season collaborating with McArthur Genius awardee Kyle Abraham, and his company Abraham in Motion. Soon after Maleek co founded with friend and partner Marlon Taylor-Wiles Flying.Under.The.Radar/FUTR a collective that brings Dance to non-traditional spaces with thought provoking concepts. Now you can visit Maleek at the off Broadway Show and PunchDrunk production of "Sleep No More" at the McKittrick Hotel in New York Chelsea area.
