2-hour Contemporary Master Class with John Allen Sliding scale class - $10-15 This Intermediate/Advanced Contemporary dance class will explore Bartenieff floor work, variations on release technique, and core strengthening, culminating in a series of phrases from Allen's repertory. About John Allen: An Associate Professor of Dance in the Department of Theatre and Dance at Tulane University, John Allen is a dynamic and intensely physical mover and teacher. Outside of Tulane, he works as a freelance choreographer, having set works on such companies as The Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, Russia’s Kannon Dance Company and the Ekaterinburg Contemporary Arts Centre Dance Company as well as South Africa’s First Physical Theatre. His work has been performed in such venues as the Wave Rising Series, the Utah Arts Festival, St Petersburg’s OPEN LOOK Festival, the Harare International Festival of the Arts, and South Africa’s National Arts Festival. Locally he has worked extensively in various capacities with the Tsunami Dance Company.
