Flamenco Basics for Absolute Beginner Workshop Series

March 27, 2015

An introduction to the beautiful, passionate, and profound gitano-Andalusian art form known as Flamenco. Geared to those without prior experience, the classes will include a rigorous warm-up section focused on increased strength, balance and fluidity of movement followed by an exploration into the fundamental elements of this art such as palmas (hand percussion), zapateado (footwork), braceo (arm movement), and stylization.

Flamenco or character dance shoes are best for class, but other sturdy footwear will work (i.e. low, thick-heeled shoes or boots) and comfy clothing to allow movement like stretch pants and a form fitting top.
